New Downtown Hotspot – Peter Maxwell

Peter Maxwell – News Reporter for WXYZ-TV.

Drink: For a quality craft cocktail, my favorite place is Bad Luck Bar. It’s a great one for first dates and if you like a quality bar and service.

CoffeeJames Oliver for a nice smooth iced coffee and a jalapeño bagel with egg bacon and melted cheese. It’s an ultimate vibe and it’s all about the beans.

EatJohnny Noodle King. Highly recommend the chicken pho, lobster rangoon and pork belly bao buns. This is one of my favorite spots in Detroit to grab something quick and fresh.

BarCafe D’Mongo’s Speakeasy. This place is a great spot to have drinks with friends and to listen to live music.

Scenery: I love walking or riding my bike along the Detroit Riverwalk, especially after a long morning of reporting the news. It’s nice to be along the water and to watch the freighters come through the Detroit River.

Ultimate dinner view: If you’re looking for dinner with a view, I highly suggest Highlands at the top of the Renaissance Center. Quality steaks and seafood. This is also a great date spot too.
