I moved to Michigan over five years ago and immediately fell in love with the city of Detroit. I’ve always enjoyed spending time in the city, discovering unique shops and dining spots. The energy that fills Downtown Detroit during events and the holiday season is one of my favorite times of the year.

Since starting work in Downtown early 2024, my connection to the city has only deepened. I have gained a greater appreciation for the city’s rich history, its parks and public spaces, and the passionate communities that bring them to life. My role with DDP has allowed me to engage with Detroit on many levels, collaborating with stakeholders, connecting with business owners, and working alongside community members who all contribute to the vibrant social fabric of Downtown.

  • Downtown Detroit Restaurant: There are so many ways to enjoy the city and enjoying their food scene is one of the best! For breakfast, Iggy’s Eggy’s is a great bite, pair that what an Iced Chai Latte from Dessert Oasis and your morning is off to a great start. I always recommend checking out Lelia’s or Le Supreme for a great atmosphere and dinner…and when it comes to dessert, I always make my way to Astoria.
  • Downtown Detroit Cocktail Lounge: One of my favorite places to grab a cocktail is SPKRBOX. It’s a great space with even better vibes, perfect for unwinding after work. I always recommend it as a go-to spot to meet up with friends and enjoy a good drink.
  • Downtown Detroit Lunch Spot: There are so many great lunch spots in Downtown Detroit that it’s hard to choose just one! But in no particular order, here are a few of my favorites: 7Greens for their Biggie Burrito, American Coney Island (my first and still the best coney dog), Mootz for a quick slice of pizza, Lone Goat for their unbeatable lunch specials, and Jose’s Tacos, because I’ll never turn down a great taco.
  • Downtown Detroit Outdoor Scenery: Capitol Park is a special place for me, as a historically rich park. Since the park’s improvements, it’s become an incredible space to visit any time of day. The park anchors the surrounding community, and it’s inspiring to see how people bring it to life in so many different ways.
