We believe that inclusion, diversity and equity is about creating a culture that embraces the uniqueness of individuals and is representative of our Downtown Detroit stakeholders. We actively work to recognize, develop and promote initiatives towards inclusion, equity, and diversity in our hiring, promotion policies, and organized events.

DDP strives to create a diverse, equitable, and inclusive environment through the transformation of systems, policies, and practices that reflect DDP’s board, employees, stakeholders, and constituents alike. DDP seeks to dismantle inequities and advance policies that welcome, celebrate, and reflect the unique individual perspectives of the DDP team and the communities that we serve.
DDP defines diversity, equity, and inclusion as follows:
Diversity – How people differ and identify. It refers to representation – the composition of the team, which includes differences in age, color, disability, weight, height, ethnicity, family or marital status, gender identity or expression, language, national origin, physical and mental ability, race, religion, sexual orientation, socio-economic status, veteran status, and other characteristics that make our employees unique like ideas, perspectives, and values.
Equity – Bridging the opportunity gap. Recognizing each person faces different circumstances and allocating appropriate and equitable resources, finances and opportunities needed to create an equally positive experience.
Inclusion – The act of including traditionally excluded individuals and/or groups into processes, activities, and decision-making to ensure individuals experience no fear of rejection, creates a sense of belonging and authentically shares power.
Diversity, equity and inclusion is an ongoing process to which DDP is committed.
