The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) has reimagined Detroit’s local gift card with a bold, new look and name — The Detroit Card — so it truly reflects the heart of the city. This digital gift card makes it simple to support Detroit businesses: purchase online, share with friends and colleagues, and keep our city’s economy thriving.

Your digital gift card to support local businesses with a look and feel that is distinctly Detroit.
- Why the Change: We wanted the card to truly represent Detroit’s unique spirit and pride. The new name and look celebrate the city and its small businesses.
- Why Now: With functionality improvements, including a Yiftee App and tap to pay, it is time to take it to the next level. New functions include a Yiftee App where all your gift cards are house and the ability to tap to pay from your Apple/Android digital wallet. It is part of the initiatives of the Small Business team at the DDP.
- What Stays the Same: The program continues to make it easy to support Detroit businesses with online purchasing, bulk ordering for employees, and e-delivery.
- Benefits: A simple way for employers, residents, and visitors to support local shops, restaurants, and services while boosting Detroit’s economy.
Please Note: Eligible merchants include local businesses operating in the City of Detroit.
The DDP will determine merchant eligibility based on the stated criteria.
Your business will only be listed on the site once you complete the “Activation Card” transaction, which will be shared with you via an email sent to the address you provided
The Detroit Card FAQs
NEW: How can I redeem my digital gift card?
The Detroit Card can now be added to your Apple or Android phone’s digital wallet and used as Tap-2-Pay or keyed in manually into a business’ POS or terminal systems as a credit card. The card is available electronically or, if you choose, you can print it on a piece of paper. It cannot be swiped.
Are physical cards an option?
There are no plastic cards available. The Detroit Card may be added to your phone’s digital wallet and used as Tap to Pay or, if you choose, you can print it on a piece of paper.
Can I use the same gift at multiple locations?
Yes, as long as there is a remaining balance, the card may be used at any participating location. See list of locations that accept the The Detroit Card.
Will my gift card work anywhere?
The card can be used at any location that has signed up for the program. Additional businesses are being added every day!
Can refunds be provided to my gift card?
Yes — just as refunds would be applied to your credit card, they can also be applied to your gift card.

What do I do if my gift card is declined?
If your card is declined, it could be because:
- The value on the card is less than what is trying to be redeemed. Have an additional payment form ready in this instance.
- You are trying to redeem it at a non-participating business
Will my payment automatically deduct from the card if I don’t have enough to cover my entire balance?
In the event that your purchase exceeds the amount in your balance, purchases will need to be split up separately with the card balance being paid first and then using a separate payment method.
Is there a cost associated with purchasing a gift card? How much does it cost to purchase a card?
The card purchaser pays an eDelivery fee to cover processing costs ($1.00 per card and 5.0% of the total value of the gift amount), unless this has been paid by a third party. The card recipient and merchant receive the full value for the card, providing maximum benefit to local businesses.
What happens if my purchase amount exceeds the balance on my gift card?
In the event that your purchase exceeds the amount in your balance, you will need to have a separate form of payment to cover the difference of the purchase amount.
Where can my gift card be used?
These gifts are intended to be used in store or over the phone with the listed participating merchants. They will not work with delivery services who cannot specify a participating merchant’s point of sale system (e.g. Grubhub, Doordash, Uber Eats, Postmates) because enabling those third parties would allow gifts to be redeemed outside your community. Online purchases will be declined if the purchase amount is greater than the current card balance; e-commerce engines don’t take multiple cards. Online purchases and chain or franchise locations where the merchants are not a part of your community may not be permitted by your community card organizers.
