With the picturesque and historic Capitol Park as the centerpiece, Capitol Park is a popular neighborhood and an emerging destination all in one. Incredible restaurants, bakeries and coffee shops, nightlife, and retail are tucked within the city’s most dramatic architecture. Capitol Park features lush landscaping and green spaces, a new off-leash dog park, fitness classes, and more.
RAP Program Update: Capitol Park construction begun on Jan. 13 and is continuing through summer 2025. The park enhancements aim to support its growing residential population and small business community in the surrounding area. The construction will complete major elements of the 2017 Capitol Park master plan, softening the park by adding new gardens, permeable surfacing, expansion of the dog park and lawn, and introducing a new canopy of trees. Businesses will remain open during the construction period, including Eatori, Leila, Exhibition, Detroit City FC Club Shop, Dessert Oasis, La Lanterna, Charminar Biryani, Culture Detroit, Boyd Beauty, Cannelle, etc. The dog park will have a short closure for its construction in the spring, but will remain open for the bulk of the construction period. Stay tuned for future updates.
