BIZ Board Adds Leaders from City of Detroit, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, and DTE
DETROIT (May 8, 2025) – The Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) is pleased to announce that Hassan Beydoun, group executive of economic development and counsel to the Mayor for the City of Detroit; Steven Pecic, senior director of facilities management, Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan; and Khalil Rahal, director of economic development, DTE Energy, have joined the organization’s Board of Directors.
The Downtown BIZ is dedicated to enhancing the overall appeal of Downtown Detroit through services, including hospitality, cleaning, supplemental lighting, safety, and urban planning. The BIZ is governed by a volunteer board of directors that contracts with the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) to manage its day-to-day operations.
The Board is made up of a diverse group of Downtown Detroit stakeholders and property owners who are committed to creating a vibrant Downtown that is clean, safe, and welcoming for all. The mission has been to deliver an exceptional public realm through ongoing and thoughtful beautification, and adaptability is crucial as we navigate the changes and growth of Detroit’s urban landscape.
