If you’ve spent time in Downtown Detroit, you’ve likely seen the Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) Ambassadors in their signature yellow jackets. This dedicated group of professionals work tirelessly to create a vibrant Downtown that is clean, safe, and welcoming for all. The BIZ Ambassadors are the cornerstone of the Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ), ensuring that Downtown remains a vibrant urban core for Detroit, the region, and our state.
The key BIZ program recently launched a key initiative to support the unhoused community in Downtown Detroit. The BIZ Safety Outreach Team consists of a dedicated and expertly trained group of BIZ Ambassadors, including two social workers. All team members are trained to assist individuals experiencing homelessness by sharing essential resources and support services. Additionally, the team offers support in crowd management, de-escalation, and more.

The team also tracks interactions and stays engaged with the community so that they know how to best address the evolving challenges and ensure that assistance reaches those who need it most, in every season.
