Detroit Grand Prix Delivers Another Winning Weekend in Downtown Detroit

Downtown Detroit once again took center stage as the Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear returned to the heart of the city from May 29-31, 2026. More than a world-class racing event, the Grand Prix served as a powerful showcase of Detroit’s energy, innovation, and community spirit, bringing together residents, visitors, businesses, and racing fans for an unforgettable weekend on the streets of the Motor City.

Now in its 36th year, the Detroit Grand Prix transformed Downtown Detroit into a thrilling 1.7-mile, nine-turn street circuit, delivering high-speed competition, packed grandstands, vibrant public spaces, and economic impact that extended far beyond race weekend.

DDP Powers Detroit’s Racing Spirit

The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) plays a key role in bringing the Detroit Grand Prix to life. As the parent organization of the Detroit Grand Prix and steward of 18 Downtown parks and public spaces, DDP works alongside Team Penske, city leaders, businesses, and community partners to help create an event that celebrates Detroit’s automotive heritage while driving economic activity and showcasing Downtown’s continued growth.

The Grand Prix remains one of the region’s most impactful annual events, generating more than $1 billion in economic impact over its history while drawing visitors from across the country and around the world to experience Downtown Detroit.

Driving Community Impact

Beyond the racing, the Grand Prix continued to deliver meaningful benefits across Detroit.

The annual PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet, hosted at Hudson’s Detroit, General Motors’ new world headquarters, raised more than $1.2 million for five Detroit-area nonprofit: Belle Isle Conservancy, Boys and Girls Clubs of Greater Detroit, Detroit Public Safety Foundation, Detroit 300 Conservancy, and the Pope Francis Center in Detroit. Since 2014, the PwC Grand Prixmiere presented by Chevrolet has helped raise over $10 million for local charities.

A Celebration of Speed, Culture, and Community

From thrilling racing and sold-out crowds to record-breaking community impact, the 2026 Chevrolet Detroit Grand Prix presented by Lear once again demonstrated why Detroit is one of the premier destinations in motorsports.
