On August 3, 2023, the Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) hosted Party in the Park, a fundraiser to benefit the parks and public spaces that are managed by DDP.

More than 300 guests attended the garden party benefit, which also recognized the 20th Anniversary of Campus Martius Park, recently named the #1 Public Square in the U.S. by USA Today.

Moët & Chandon served as the VIP pre-party sponsor, which included an array of mouthwatering, culinary delights from Parc, signature cocktails by Moët & Chandon and sounds by DJ Bruce Bailey. Guests were also treated to a special gift bag from Moet & Chandon.

Attendees under the large tent inside Campus Martius Park enjoyed the musical talents of the Bluewater Kings Band and DJ Stacey Hotwaxx Hale, compliments of the stage sponsor, MGM Grand Detroit. Special guest and poet Frankie McIntosh’s captivated party goers with a Campus Martius Park-themed poem “Heart of the City.” McIntosh also provided guests with personalized, heartfelt poems using her manual, antique typewriter in real time.

The centerpiece of the event was a beautifully designed sand sculpture created by Sandsational Sand Sculpting Inc., which captured the essence of Detroit and recognized Campus Martius Park’s 20th anniversary.  The sculpture stood as a testament to the creativity and spirit of our city. It was a site to see, as visitors of the park were able to watch the sand sculpture come alive the week leading up to the event. The sculpture served as a premium selfie-station and remained in-tact a week after the event.

The “Fan of the Parks” level sponsors entertained guests in their premium tented garden cabana, which came complete with cozy private seating, custom branded pillows and premium bottles of champagne courtesy of Moet & Chandon.  The “Blooms Partners” enjoyed their branded signage placed among the ornate flower displays, provided by Ashcraft Landscape. The signage recognized their contribution towards the more than 20,000 annual flower bulbs that are planted at Campus Martius.

A heartfelt thank you to all the attendees and our generous sponsors: Blue Cross Blue Shield of Michigan, General Motors, HOUR Detroit, MGM Grand Detroit, Moet & Chandon, Visit Detroit, Crain’s Detroit Business, Parade Company and Wayne State University.
