Downtown Detroit Partnership rebrands the Spirit Card as The Detroit Card
The e-gift card honors local pride and helps support local businesses, citywide
DETROIT (October 2, 2025) — The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) is excited to announce The Spirit Card has been rebranded as The Detroit Card. The rebranding is part of a broader initiative, spearheaded by the DDP’s small business team, which aims to strengthen and grow the local small business ecosystem.
The reloadable, contactless e-gift card can be redeemed at participating merchants throughout the city and is compatible with Android and Apple’s digital wallets. As a new feature, customers can now tap to pay and can also use the Yiftee app to redeem.
“The Detroit Card embraces the essence of Detroit through the many unique and resilient businesses and entrepreneurs around the city that are the backbone of our economy,” said Eric B. Larson, DDP CEO. “When we think of the monikers that define our city, many are born from the iconic brands, food, and art produced by small businesses. The Detroit Card is one more economic tool reflecting the pride and innovation we have while helping boost their bottom lines.”
To date, more than 100 Detroit brick-and-mortar businesses are part of the e-gift card program. For the first time, the digital card will be redeemable with Downtown Winter Market vendors during this year’s holiday season.
Local brick-and-mortar businesses are invited to become Detroit Card merchants at no cost. The Detroit Card can be purchased by an individual or company and used year-round for anniversaries, holiday giving, and sharing Detroit pride.
Bulk purchasing is available online and at discount pricing for companies offering employee rewards, client appreciation, corporate and holiday giving. Customers, employers, and Detroit businesses looking to become merchants can learn more via the Downtown Detroit Partnership’s website: downtowndetroit.org/detroitcard.
