The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) hosted its first Downtown Job Fair of the year on March 20, 2024. This event featured more than 30 employers that were looking to hire. In attendance was three service providers: Detroit at Work, providing employment readiness assistance; Clean Slate, offering onsite criminal expungement; and the Michigan Secretary of State provided branch services during the event, including license, identification, and registration renewal.

Job seekers met with safety officials such as Detroit Police Department, Wayne County Sheriff, and Rock Security, along with hospitality professionals from various hotels.

The District Detroit Opportunity Center served as the event sponsor in partnership with Ilitch Sports + Olympia Development and Little Caesars Enterprises. Co-sponsors, Ilitch Companies and Olympia Development used The District Detroit Opportunity Center to conduct interviews onsite, and extended employment offers to more than 45 candidates.

More than 375 job seekers came to the Job Fair, making this the most attended hiring fair produced by DDP.

Some of the Downtown employers that participated included: MGM Grand Detroit, MotorCity Casino, Little Caesars Pizza, City of Detroit, Ilitch Sports + Entertainment, Block by Block, Detroit Grand Prix, The Westin Book Cadillac Detroit, Detroit Marriott at the Renaissance Center and more.

The Downtown Job Fair aims to connect employers to eligible employees, while also providing resources for employees that may have social and/or economic barriers to employment. The event continues to grow in its success and connects metro Detroiters to pipeline jobs and critical resources. DDP and the Downtown Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) have collaborated with Downtown employers and service providers to produce and host seven Downtown Job Fairs to date. These Job Fairs were created in response to several Downtown employers expressing a need for new employees. The DDP plans to host another Job Fair this summer with support from the BIZ.
