Detroit Phoenix Center and Downtown Detroit Partnership Bring YouthUp Mobile Unit to Cadillac Square for “YouthUp Fridays”

WHAT:  Detroit Phoenix Center (DPC) teams up with the Downtown Detroit Partnership to launch “YouthUp Fridays,” a weekly activation designed to provide young people with a safe, engaging space to connect, unwind and access supportive resources.

Held at Cadillac Square adjacent to Campus Martius Park, the weekly series will feature DPC’s 40-foot YouthUp Mobile Unit with food, games and interactive activities that foster connection and community among youth. The initiative reflects DPC’s commitment to prevention, early intervention and ensuring young people have access to the tools and support they need to thrive.

The state-of-the-art YouthUp Mobile Unit includes laptops and mobile hotspots to expand digital access and connectivity, along with a built-in gaming. Trained staff will also be on-site to provide resources and support services.

“By bringing our mobile unit directly into the heart of downtown, we’re removing barriers and meeting youth where they are, offering both fun and access to the resources they need to thrive,” said Courtney Smith, founder and CEO of Detroit Phoenix Center. “’YouthUp Fridays’ are about creating a consistent, safe space where young people feel seen, supported and connected.”

“Downtown Detroit’s park and public spaces are welcoming and accessible to everyone, and partnering with Detroit Phoenix Center to host ‘Youth Up Fridays’ brings that vision to life,” said David Cowan, chief public spaces officer for the Downtown Detroit Partnership. “This initiative activates one of Detroit’s most popular gathering spaces with purpose, creating opportunities for young people to connect, engage and feel a true sense of belonging downtown.”
