Raise your hand if you attended or watched the 2022 Ford Fireworks. This event showcases all that is great about our city: The families, the international skylines, the corporate/nonprofit partnerships, and the support and commitment we all have to see our city in the best possible light. This year’s event — the 64th annual — did not disappoint. The largest fireworks display in America went off without a hitch and the crowds were amazing.

The theme of this year’s spectacular, sponsored by Ford Motor Company, produced by The Parade Company, was, “Hey Detroit! The Sky Shines for You.” Thanks to DDP Executive Committee Member Mary Culler, president of the Ford Motor Company Fund, for her leadership role in this effort. Also, a huge shout out to The Parade Company President and CEO Tony Michaels, Board Chair Bob Riney, all the board members and the incredible team and volunteers. As the past chair and current board member, I could not be more proud.

“The Ford Fireworks event celebrates the best of Detroit,” said Mary. “We are honored to host this annual tradition in our hometown.”

As the ever-present steward of the Downtown and its public spaces, the Downtown Detroit Partnership team takes great pride in seeing events like these and their impact on audience perceptions locally, nationally and internationally. We work tirelessly to maintain our parks and keep the city clean and safe through our Ambassadors and partnership with public safety officials. This year, we partnered with the Detroit Police Department to procure and deploy the City of Detroit’s new Evolv Weapons Detection units and the results and feedback was resoundingly positive. This is just one more example of the proactive and innovative engagement DDP promotes in support of our community.

The fireworks have been happening for 64 years, and the DDP has been the steward of the Downtown for 100 years. It has been wonderful to be a part of the show.

In 1922, the first meeting of the Business Property Association was held. It has been a century of momentum (and changes), and DDP fully intends to cultivate, curate and collaborate for the next 100 years. We would love to have you join the Centennial Celebration we’re planning for August 24 to commemorate this milestone with special guests, old and new friends, music, food and fun. See below for Centennial Celebration ticketing details and sponsorship opportunities. This is a tremendous way to show your support as we build on all that is happening in and around our incredible city now and into the future.

See you in the parks and at the party!
