For more than 10 years, the Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ) has steadfastly worked to enhance Downtown Detroit, focusing on creating a clean, safe, and welcoming environment for everyone who experiences the Downtown. The BIZ’s dedication to this mission has been unwavering, and the team is proud to say that its accomplishments reflect the BIZ’s commitment to excellence.
The success of the BIZ is a direct result of the dedication of the City of Detroit, Downtown property owners, businesses, residents, and visitors who actively support and engage with the BIZ. The work has tangible results as the cityscape has transformed into a dynamic and flourishing environment that benefits everyone who experiences it.
Last month, BIZ Director Gina Cavaliere shared the latest news and updates with the Detroit City Council. This update is an annual commitment to ensure the City is aware of the work the BIZ is doing Downtown. The 2024 updates included:
- Downtown Property owners contributed $6.11 million through the BIZ assessment
- BIZ Ambassadors worked nearly 100,000 hours keeping Downtown clean, safe, and welcoming (plus many more hours servicing other neighborhoods and special events)
- 95% of Detroiter’s have an overall positive impression of Downtown
- 70% of Detroiter’s are familiar with the BIZ
