Join us for the third annual Motor City Kwanzaa Kinara lighting ceremony in partnership with Alkebu-lan Village, Councilman Scott Benson and the City of Detroit, the Downtown Detroit Partnership is excited to host the Motor City Kwanzaa Kinara. The 30-foot-tall monument brings a celebration of African American life, community and culture to Campus Martius Park. The ceremony will take place on a grand stage located at northbound Cadillac Square and Woodward.
WHEN: December 26th, 4:00 pm to 5:00 pm. The program officially kicks off, leading to the symbolic lighting of the Unity candle at sunset (around 5:00 pm).
DAILY LIGHTING: Don’t miss the daily lighting of the Kinara, happening promptly between 5:00 pm and 5:15 pm. It’s a sight to behold and an experience that embodies the spirit of Kwanzaa.
