2025 Downtown Detroit Development Story Map

Produced in collaboration with the Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ), the annual Development Update provides a plethora of information on Downtown Detroit and neighboring communities, and it may be the most comprehensive presentation of the many investments happening now, in the near future, and on the horizon.

Now, the DDP’s Data team has taken the Update to a new level with its 3D story map. This online tool was created to provide a more interactive way to visualize all the exciting developments happening in and around Downtown. Instead of carrying a printed booklet or downloading a PDF, builders, investors, developers, and other interested parties can interact with all the projects from their computers, tablets, and smart phones. With this 3D, interactive and scroll format, readers can better understand the scale and density of projects and it’s impact in the immediate vicinity. Even better, it comes with the project details and descriptions that are included in the print version. The tool also allows users to view projects from multiple perspectives to get a visceral sense of what it will feel like Downtown once a project is completed.
