The Downtown Ambassador Program

A program of Downtown Detroit Business Improvement Zone (BIZ), Ambassadors are easily recognized by their distinctive yellow jackets and are trained to offer hospitality assistance to residents and visitors. Ask them for help or tips on how to make the most of your experience throughout Downtown Detroit and the Downtown Detroit Parks.

About Downtown BIZ Ambassadors

BIZ Ambassadors are proactive and friendly individuals who clean and serve as information resources for Downtown businesses, residents, and visitors. Stationed throughout Downtown Detroit, the Ambassadors have been trained to provide assistance with directions, restaurant recommendations, and tourist attractions. Additionally, Ambassadors are linked to a communications network shared by the Detroit Police Department and private security officers to help encourage and maintain a safe Downtown. Their positive presence and connectivity contribute to an enjoyable Detroit experience.

Downtown BIZ Ambassador
Kudos from the Community

Downtown Detroit BIZ Ambassadors are the heartbeat of the BIZ and are essential to the overall mission of the BIZ. Established in 2006, the BIZ Ambassador program transformed the appearance and experience in Downtown Detroit. The Ambassadors bring a friendly personality, expert knowledge of the city, and passion to keep their city clean and inviting to the streets of Downtown, every day, even throughout the pandemic. Their presence brings a service like no other in Detroit.

The Downtown Detroit BIZ investment in the Ambassador program is leveraged to provide the service in other neighborhoods and to events on a fee-for-service basis. Partners include the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy, Midtown Detroit Inc., Jefferson East Inc., Live6 Alliance and more.
