For the past 36 years, the Detroit Aglow dinner has brought the community together to kick-off the holiday season while raising funds for DDP’s core programs and initiatives. However, like many cherished and long-standing traditions in our lives, Detroit Aglow will be celebrated differently this year due to COVID-19. 

Detroit Aglow has grown beyond a one-night celebration — it is a winter-long campaign to celebrate a Season of Light and Hope! Throughout this campaign, we bring attention and awareness to the many ways that we uplift the Downtown community throughout the year, including:

  • Providing critical support to Downtown Detroit’s small businesses 
  • Keeping Downtown Detroit safe and clean through by means of our Downtown Detroit BIZ Ambassadors 
  • Producing fun and exciting events in DDP’s Parks and Public Spaces

Each year, the Detroit Aglow dinner raises significant funds for DDP’s work. In the absence of the event this year, DDP invites the community to contribute to our stewardship efforts. Your gift, no matter its size, will support DDP operations, park maintenance and community programs during these unprecedented times.

Donors at the “Detroit Level” of $313 will receive a Build Box, an annual holiday-themed gift box filled with locally-sourced items from a variety of metro-Detroit’s small businesses.

For many in our extended community, Detroit Aglow has become synonymous with the holiday season. This has not changed. Beginning in mid-November, Downtown will be “aglow” with dazzling lights, unique displays and the iconic 60-foot tree in Campus Martius Park. DDP hopes you will continue our efforts to keep Detroit Aglow and spread joy throughout a Season of Light and Hope. With your support, DDP looks forward to continuing to create a vibrant Downtown that offers something special for everyone in every season.
