DDP Releases Report Showing Significant Increase in Residential Demand

Detroit – The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) released, today, a residential market study that noted a 22 percent increase in demand for residential properties in the downtown area in the last four years. The Residential Market Potential for Greater Downtown report provides a market-based tool to confirm development decisions and the positive impact that Live Downtown/Live Midtown incentives have had on the market. The residential study was conducted by Zimmerman/Volk Associates, Inc., a nationally-recognized residential market analysis firm. “This report is demonstrating not only that there is a clear demand for housing, but that our Greater Downtown is on solid ground for increased investment. Programs, such as Live Downtown, catalyze residential density and as the report reflects, we are poised for rapid and continued growth,” said Eric Larson, DDP CEO. The Live Downtown program, which provides incentives for employees of Downtown-based corporations to move into Greater Downtown, has yielded over 1,000 new residents to the city since it was launched in 2011. This has helped contribute to Greater Downtown Detroit’s 98 to 99 percent residential occupancy rate, which is reported in the study. For Immediate Release August 1, 2014 Downtown Detroit Partnership Announces Eric Larson as Acting CEO  Detroit – The Downtown Detroit Partnership (DDP) announced, today, that Eric Larson will expand his commitment to the organization by serving as acting CEO.   In this position, Larson will be responsible for the leadership of DDP’s operations as well as setting the strategic direction for the future of the organization. Larson is a long-time DDP board member and succeeds Dave Blaszkiewicz, who for the past three years had served a dual role as president and CEO of the DDP and Invest Detroit.  On June 30, Blaszkiewicz stepped down from his position with the DDP to focus solely on Invest Detroit and Larson was tapped by the Board’s Executive Committee to help with operations and strategy for the organization. “The DDP is at a critical moment in time when proven and consistent leadership is needed to drive our key initiatives, including the implementation of the recently passed Business Improvement Zone, support for our stakeholders during M-1 RAIL construction, safety and security coordination, and the activation of our public spaces,” said Cynthia J. Quicken Loans Sports Zone Opens In Detroit’s Cadillac Square Friday, August 1st

Four Basketball Half-Courts, One Sand Volleyball Court added to Quicken Loans 2014 Summer In The Park activities July 31, 2014 (DETROIT)  – Detroit’s sports culture runs deep. As a mid-summer homage to athletes of all ages and abilities, the FREE Quicken Loans Sports Zone featuring four outdoor basketball half-courts and a sand volleyball court opens Friday, August 1st in Cadillac Square, part of Campus Martius Park in downtown Detroit. The Quicken Loans Sports Zone is open to the public daily from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. The sand volleyball court is open through August 22nd, and basketball is available through October 5th. Downtown employees, residents and visitors from across the city and region are invited to play a pick-up volleyball or basketball game or participate in one of three organized basketball events.
